Roofer repairer

Hello all. Can anyone recommend a roofer to repair my garage roof? The felt underneath the tiles has gone and leaks at the back, soffits and guttering needed.

I've recently been pressurised into having my garage roof and guttering replaced I'm more annoyed with myself for getting hoodwinked. Turns out to be a bunch of Cowboys wanted paying in cash and when the roofer came to drop off the new sheeting and to look at the job, he said he couldn't replace the gutters( which was part of the original estimate for the job) and he said he would have the job done in 1/2 a day??? I'm no roofer but its a big garage 7.5mtrs x 3.4mtrs and NO WAY can the job be done in half a day..I asked him would the Asbestos removal company be coming too? He said that he would be removing the asbestos and he would have the roof off in 1 hour!!!! I asked him if he would he be wearing all the protective clothing etc he said NO THE WIND WILL BLOW THE DUST AWAY..I've since checked the rules and regulations and I've been told NO WAY to allow anyone to remove any asbestos without them following the correct procedures I've just got a pile of information and also written a letter to send to them to say that I'm cancelling the contract. Not only because I was told the charge would be £900 for removal of the asbestos, supposedly by a recognised company, but a couple of other things too. I'm expecting them to threaten me with court action for cancelling but I'm well prepared..

Get in touch with trading standards. Asbestos removal is a sealed procedure, I had a ceiling taken down with asbestos artex and the whole room had to be sealed off for removal. They had a caravan parked on my drive with shower facilities and a clean room.

My garage is huge in door size and length and was very tired in 2014 with asbestos leaking roof, large rotten door. I contacted Danmarque of Bolton. Dan came with his lads and did a great job. Modern roof and the bespoke door made to measure still opens and looks like new today. It started snowing yet they were reluctant to stop working and come inside for my famous bacon butties.

Get somebody proper with a local phone number. then ask where they are working and do some research, see if they put a advertising sign up on the jobs they are presently working on

Angelwood's right. My sister had a similar job with a room of hers and there was a caravan and cleaning facilities and sealing off areas on her property for ages.
I've been told it's why building companies don't like turning old properties into new homes in case they come across asbestos, like those toilets in Blackrod (I think). They prefer to dig up the countryside.

The problem with my garage I have a room/office which takes up about 1/2 the original garage and you cant get access to the roof of the garage from the inside as it has a false ceiling. So everything must be done from the top outside, of the garage. Also my neighbour's garage, which was built after mine, is really close to mine probably only about 18" gap between the garages. The roofer said that he couldn't replace the guttering as he couldn't get access I had already pointed this out to the original salesman who said that it would be no problem. The roofer would be able to sort it.!!!!! When the roofer came(The first time) It appeared to me when he saw what the job entailed he didn't fancy doing the job. He said these salesmen will say anything but they haven't done the job and have no idea of what the job entails. He said it was too late to start the job and would come back at 9.00a.m the following Thursday. At 11.00am he hadn't rung so I rang the company (again an answering machine) I said that I was cancelling the job and I wanted my deposit back. At 11.15 (What a coincidence) the roofer rang and said His son had had a positive test for Corona I asked him why he didn't ring me at 9.00a.m to tell me this? and if he had only just found out Then he should have been here at 9.00 a.m anyway...SILENCE<g>In my life Ive heard all the excuses but this is a new one<g> I said that I had just rung his office and cancelled the job. Which of course he already knew.. I have since read all the rules and regulations and I have compiled a lot of data regarding the removal of asbestos, which I am in the process of sending to the company.I am just awaiting a reply from the local Environmental Health to see what they have to say.

Some roofers will give you a quote then sub contract the job to another roofer so you need to check that you are using a tried and trusted firm.

bill. I was conned by the fact that the company name, which I was told was WEATHERSHIELD (who are a reputable company) is in fact WEATHER SHIELD NORTH WEST. Checking on the internet they appear to be double glazing people, who have a terrible reputation and would appear to be in court more than Judge Rinder.
I have just been to see an Asbestos removal company in Pemberton who told me NO WAY 100% should I allow anyone to remove any asbestos from my property without following the correct procedure as it is my legal responsibility. Although you don't need a HSE license to remove this type of asbestos you still need to follow the legal guidelines.
