It looks like it’ll be next year, Berylh - www.findmypast.co.uk:

Findmypast has been selected as The National Archives’ commercial partner to make the 1921 Census of England & Wales available online.

The census will be published online by Findmypast in January 2022.

Thanks you jo anne, was hoping it would be this year. I found the 1911 Census so good when it came, especially seeing it written in the handwriting of my ancesters, and so much more information, however I will have to be patient and wait it out

Don't forget to complete your Census form as you can be fined up to £1000 if you do not complete it.

Do you remember the census about twenty years back, when thousands of folk decided to put 'Jedi' as their religion?

I worked on the 1971 census and on my patch was the Gypsy site down Miry Lane. Interesting to say the least and some of the caravans were lovely inside.

"The Office for National Statistics (ONS) requests that households in England and Wales complete the census on Sunday 21 March or as soon as possible after that date".

PeterP and Golden Bear should be fined. Heavily.
It's people like you two who make the census inaccurate!

Tonker read the paper work you can fill the census on line before the 21st has long as there is not going to be anything different to that date So no laws broken

That's how stupid and false it all is. And those questions are a bit iffy too. It's gone beyond "who was where on Sunday 21st March"

The information you provide needs to be about who usually
lives in the household on Census Day, which is Sunday
21 March 2021. You can submit your questionnaire on
Census Day or as soon as possible after. If you need to, you
can complete your questionnaire before 21 March. If your
household circumstances change on Census Day, you can
let the ONS know

From here

As usual Tonker is making things up and posting them as facts.

Did mine last week and if something changed to be different from my answer about the 21st March, there is a way of correcting it.....

Why not simply wait until the 21st March and do it then? Or soon after?

I think it's just that 'some people'want to be a smart-arse and fill it inwhen THEY want to, regardless.

TONKER If you want to wait till the 21st that is up to you. Some of us may have better things to do on the 21st so if that makes me a smart arse so be it If the option is there why not use it.

Did mine last night. Remember the 1981 census as I was staying in the Windsor hotel in Nairn, Scotland. Went there for three day job and ended up being there three and a half week.

Gb I have always said I would like to live till I am 90 yrs old so thats another two censuses for me We know we get a potted history has how the information is used from the census but does it help things like more Schools Doctors/Dentist and the general infastruture of were we live Wigan Council on the surface want to build houses/industrial units etc in specific areas but does anything from the census aid their thinking. Now the covid virus has shut down busnesses some which may never re-open will councils use of the census have to rethink how they are going to create income. There will be plenty of offices/work units/ shops empty now so no money for the councils coffers

In 2001:

"John Pullinger, Director of Reporting and Analysis for the Census, noted that many people who would otherwise not have completed a Census form did so solely to record themselves as Jedi, so this joke helped to improve the quality of the Census. The Office for National Statistics revealed the total figure in a press release entitled "390,000 Jedi there are"." (Wiki)

Bad news for all you eager for 1931 / 41 census's. 1931's went up in flames with exception of Scotland, There weren't one in 1941. There is the 1939 register though, a mini sort-of census. I'm looking at it right now on Ancestry.

the trouble is with filling it in early is that circumstances canchange, My granddaughter filled it in early then was taken in and is now in hospital . If she is allowed out today she will go to her parents to recover so her information is wrong. If my son filled his in early then his will be wrong too. And if she is still in hospital will she be recorded as being in 2 places> I assume hospital will have to log individual patients?

Filled mine in..... found it difficult to understand why my record of working almost sixty years ago is relevant. I thought the info was to be as of now, today's date. Surely when I worked and retired has already been recorded in earlier years.

In hospital, a care home or similar place
If you know a household member will be in hospital, a care home or a similar place for less than six months, include them on your household form.

Anne said, "found it difficult to understand why my record of working almost sixty years ago is relevant".

Your census must be different to mine, as I wasn't asked anything about past work.

Unless it's something you've been led onto by answering a certain way?

I've just done mine. I answered averything I thought relevant and ignored the rest.
If they're not happy with that, they can whistle!

tonker, Yes that was the way the questioning went. One question asked "Have you ever worked " answer Yes. Next question "Name of business" -----------. plus several more questions relating to said employment. As I said the question asking about past employment was a weird one considering it is supposed to be about today. If like yourself, employed and working you would not have been led down that path.
