Snow is ok on christmas cards but after a while most folk wish it would melt You cannot walk safely in it and last thing anyone wants is a visit to A&E. If you have to drive most roads have not been gritted so they are full of compacted ice and dangerous

Snowfall is good for the soul, keeps you young and fit. Many of the elderly folk near me are sensible and wear the appropriate footwear to get out and about.

I love the ole white stuff , it gives me a glow
But it does cause a hazard , with its after math
I love to go playing, with a spade in the snow
and to help the old walkers, I clear a path,

And if it falls deeply, and there's nowhere to shove it,
A dasterly plan , I have hatched,
I'll tell you my plan and i think you will love it,
I'll build a big snowman, with buttons and hat, that are matched,

"But it does cause a hazard , with its after math "

Is that American for 'it's chasing sums'?

Its called, poetic license , Its been with us some time,
a gift from , him upstairs tha knows
to make the poems rhyme
The problem is of course, you see,
The pendants only rule,
he wants it perfect every time, and that will never be,

Some of you should travel to countries that get real snow downfalls and see how they manage. It's only this country that gets its knickers in a twist about a bit of snow and shuts down, the drivers who complain about it are bad drivers in my opinion and should stay off the roads if they can't handle a bit of snow and ice.

Rant over.

TerryW,
We got almost a foot on the Tuesday before Christmas. Only bus routes are cleared. We live at the entrance to a cul-de-sac and the ruts have been very deep. The only snag is when you get in them it is very hard to turn out of them to steer onto your drive. The snow will be here until April. On the Thursday morning the garbage was collected as usual.

I bet the country didn't come a complete halt though Broady, we stop trains running if it's the wrong type of snow here, god forbid if leaves get on the lines.

I haven’t seen them but the trains have big ploughs mounted on the front to clear the snow.

Some have two trains pulling the another a third of the way in , then another two thirds of the way in, and another one/two at the back pushing.

That section of railway in my video only used one engine because its mostly flat and only has a couple of ' grades' ( hills to us), the problem is, if it loses momentum, It will not make it up the grade and has to call the railroad to send another engine, Thieves have put things on the line to make it slow down so it will stall on the grade and they are in waiting in a choosen place where the driver cannot see them, Then while the train is stopped they empty several containers and make off no one ever seeing what they did , a nice plan and only got found out when the train got to the destination and the containers were found empty,
