BIN MEN OR REFUGE COLLECTORS

I would just like thank the men who have had a rough time this last year and especially this morning with the snow i think they have been doing a good job many thanks to them !

Werst tha bin about 20yds away from were they picked it upI would say less but there are two gates opposite each other for bin collecting and the wagon always stop upbrow from the gates.The bin men then have to drag the bins uphill then just dump them were ever the wagon stopsWould make thier lives easier if bin wagon stopped at the gates

Why do teachers get 10% off their shopping at Morrisons but not bin men or postmen?

Platty, if that is true, Mossisons should be boycotted.

Why should that be?, when teachers salaries are, at least, double the salaries of bin-men and postmen.

Tonks, Morrisons advertise it, NHS "and now teachers". I won't go there now but last time I was there in front of me there was a youngish couple who each produced their phones at the check out for the bar code to be scanned on their overloaded trolley. Dunno if both got 10% or just one but both phones were scanned.
Teachers haven't exactly suffered much over covid, not lost any salary or pension.

Not that much an indulgent perk if ya read the small print- nowt off alcohol, tobacco, mobile phones, gift vouchers, online games, fireworks or the lottery. I'd save about 50p on my shopping.

It isn't just for teachers, it is for all school staff, including teaching assistants, back office staff, caretakers and cleaners.

I live near Marus Bridge. Our bins were supposed to be emptied last Thursday, and the back lane is still full of unemptied bins.

Our was supposed to have been emptied last thursday but it got cancelled but they came today and emptied them Well done lads.

Up here in Shevy we never seem to have binmen problems on some occasions I have witnessed them spilling a bit, but they soon get the brush and shovel out and sweep it up.
I think when they can seen a tidy street so they like to keep it that way.

Our bin was emptied today and fair play to the lads,only two of them including the driver who jumped out and loaded the bins and returned them himself every time he stopped driving.
Well done to the council and their much maligned employees.

Mines still in the street along with all the others. Been there for 6 days now
Should have been emptied last Tuesday but we are all still waiting Not a pretty sight on the street.

They didn't collect ours either, what possible excuse can they have for not doing what they are paid to do? Two inch of snow and they can't cope, jeez!

Our bin was emptied last Weds ok. There is a slight slope at the side of our house and I watched has the bin wagon struggled to get up the slope on the compacted ice.I would not attempt to drive a bin wagon through most estates were the streets are narrow at the best of times with parked vehicles. The council will not grit most roads so I do not blame bin men when they cannot safely drive/walk on these roads.

All our roads and area to access our dins have been gritted regularly since the first sign of frost. So I don't know what's happened.

Normaly the roads near me would be gritted for access to the school but because the school is closed the roads are now low priority

Ah well, I suppose we will just have to live with it.

The bin men didn’t make it here last week - I wish they’d get their skates on.

Our bin men, the crew which come round every week, they all look to be in their 60s, and they are great, they all work together as a team, and they are quick, and they don't leave a mess behind, and this last week, they reversed down the road, rather than doing the usual three point turn, that was obviously, so that they could avoid the slight rise in the road, where they normally turn round, and one bin man was guiding the bin wagon has it was reversing down, I was very impressed with them

Sorry, I forgot - the bin men emptied our bin yesterday, so credit where it’s due.
