snow bike

Started by: tomplum (12487)

Today I'm trying out my snow bike, I'ts a monster and rides along the snow like a duck on Water, Anyroad up, I was in the paths through the woods near Ince Cemetery and cut through the Cemetery and onto Westwood Lane, As usually some builder/gypo has dumped a truck load of rubbish and There a team there from the council clearing it up, As I'm passing, a voice says, "Hi Tom " So I screached to a halt and turned round, A big bloke in high viz coat there with a scratchboard, Its that smashing bloke Mac, We had a banter but could't say too much as he's on Duty leading the team clearing the mess up and I need to get as much out of the snow bike before all this lovely snow dissapears,

Just asking, is this the same mac that was forever slagging the council, and some of its employees, off?

Tomplum, I saw a snow statue on the left as you drive through the lights (ex roundabout) towards the M6. Sure it was a fog begging. Looked brilliant, have you seen it and hopefully, recorded it?

Firefox, I'll check that out, I've not been that way, Basil l think I've only heard/read of him slagging the, pen pushing desk jockys off, The doers are often good, even the binmen earn their wages and are under appreciated by many,

Binmen have a bad name because they never return the bin were they found it and even though there is a brush and spade on every bin wagon they must be glues on because if the bin men drop rubbish when emptying the bin they drive off and leave the rubbish on the road. Its bad enough pushing a wheelchair along a footpath on bin day before they have been emptied but forget it once the bins have been emptied with them scattered everywhere

Tom,
I haven’t seen any recently but I saw some tracks about 3” wide a couple of days ago. They looked as though they had 1/4” studs across the width looking at the indentation. Does that sound like one?

The wheels look as though they would make similar marks but none of the bikes are so elaborate.

Leave it there Ray till spring, then venture on the cycle lanes and paths, A good plan is to get it up to haigh hall and you can do miles and miles on roads paths and canal banking until you get the confidence to go on quiet roads beware though, it can lead to marriage dissorder as Mrs Myjamie is left alone for long periods of time,

I’ll take your advice Mester Tomp and leave behind the settee till Spring.
I have several options :-

Sell it and take a big hit with the loss of money, I’ll probably only get £80 - £100 for it, I paid £356 for it including Tyre pump, water bottle and maintenance tool.

Keep it till Spring and invest in a bike rack to drive to safe places to cycle.
That said the bike is advertised as having a lightweight aluminium frame, it weighs a bl**dy ton !!!!!!!!, I may not be able to lift it.

Give it to my Son-in-Law who is a keen cyclist

RMJ,
Get shut. You get more than enough exercise on your current regime. A few bob isn’t worth falling off, pulling muscles etc.

Broady, thanks for your advice, you make a lot of sense.
I’ve got this Winter to think things through.
Me and Mrs RMJ walk every afternoon apart from our ‘big shop’ day
Once this dreadful Covid pandemic ends, I’ll be able to resume my weekly cardiac class at Horwich Leisure Centre.

Route 2 go from Scotsmons to chapel lane, get off the canal and on the new road cycle Lane , go over the first round a bout straight on, at the second roundabout, there is a left turn but no road ( yet), turn up the woods and you will see a path, its the old railway line ( no tracks), follow that to the Cemetery, When you get to the top, that is the common wealth cemetery, turn right for the Ince Cemetery

turn off the canal at Chapel lane , go down the new road, at the first round a bout turn left, head for Nice Pac warehouse, Up the side is a path, go up that path and at the top turn right, that's Westwood lane, ( where I met that nice Mr Mac), follow that to the Commonwealth , go through that Cemetery and there is a path leading to Ince Cemetery
