Council threatens to take single mum to court over 3p benefit overpayment

It cost more for the stamp and envelope Spokesperson from the council said it is auto generated by a computer but someone must have to input the data into the computer in the 1st place We all know saved pennies make pounds but if it is not cost effective then there should be a minimum cut of point for the debt.

I hope they have now dropped the case, and surely no judge/magistrate in the land would accept this - after all what on this earth can you buy for 3 pence

I once overpaid an ongoing council account by 18p and instead of just leaving the account in credit by 18p they sent me a cheque for 18p but the franking amount the council paid for postage was stamped on the envelope, and it was 23p

maybe someone at the council should have squashed this ridiculous nonsense at source.,do the councils employee's no longer check what they post out to their residents.
