Have you ever been underneath The Galleries in the service area, because it is massive, articulated lorries drive around under there, or should I say they did before everything closed

Who is going to stay in the hotel?

TTS I remember when they dug it out, But will the galleries car park still be used. With over 400 housing units plus a hotel plus every thing else that is planned which will req parking 460 parking spaces are nothing in the equation

The residential units will probably use the underground car park, gaffer said this a while back, that the only way they can make money out of places like The Galleries is to have a mixed use, which includes residential units

Most of us live in 'Wigan Borough'. Most of us pay council tax for living in 'Wigan Borough'.
Most of us, who pay council tax to Wigan Borough, don't live in Wigan.

So, why is it that Wigan gets all the money spent on it ?

Tommy you have said previously that they are going to knock the flats down in Worsley Mesnes, do you think they will move people to the Galleries?

Peter Israel, no, I didn't vote out. And, yes, I could get EU money, as an agricultural landowner. All I'd have to do is apply for it.

TTS, maybe not 'all' the money, but Wigan gets more than all the other contributing towns put together.

Wonder if they'll knock the Galleries Clock down? On a serious note it can't be any worse than it is now. Too many unused empty shops. Looks similar to what has just opened in Warrington.

The bottom end of The Galleries, the old Morrison's. Argos, Market Hall etc is definitely coming down, and looking at those pictures it looks like the rest of it will be coming down too.

That outside space will be great for events. That part of town needs to be used for entertainment. There's empty units in the galleries and Mesnes street as more and more people shop online.

I'd think it would cost more than 130 million to build what they are proposing though.

It probably will cost more, but they will recoup the money from sales of the residential units, and from rental of the residential units, and it is hoped that the 'hospitality' venues will generate income for the complex, and for the town, 'hospitality' is the word now isn't it

Mind you I can think of many clubs and bars in Wigan, which were anything but 'hospitable'
