True, lg, some said he got buried outside of Wigan because of the amount of enemies he'd made.

Don't if that's right or not.

Alan was a good friend of mine, he died in 2015 at home in Standish, he was cremated at Charnock Richard. Rocky was a brilliant footballer very skilful, he played rugby for Rose Bridge too. He was a very handy lad who could look after himself those who couldn't get the better of him called him a bully because they weren't up to it, but never to his face.

I hope his wife, son and daughters don't read these lies about him on here spread by those who know nothing of the man.

terry true i never knew him but his reputation preceded him,and perhaps one should not believe gossip but i must disagree with your comment

"He was a very handy lad who could look after himself those who couldn't get the better of him called him a bully because they weren't up to it, but never to his face. "
As that is associated with every bully that ever lived if bullys wernt "handy lads" they would not bully..

Never knew him to bully anyone , I've seen those that we would call a bully try their luck with him and fail.

LG his reputation was of a hard lad, others made of it what they would and there the confusion started with him. He managed to sort it out though one way or another. He'll be remembered for one or the other now.

Terry.... Alan... As I called him in public.... (he didn't like it). Lived in higher Ince for a while... Before returning to the waz.. I remember dot very well too.. She moved off ribble Road Platt Bridge to Blackpool early 90's...her name then was Derbyshire not Turner... I could tell many a tale of the chap.. Some to make you laugh.. Some to make you cringe... However the lad has passed away now... Leave it like that.

They used to say that half the bad uns in Platt Wazz were in jail at any one time, and they took it in turns with the other bad uns, in that as one half came out of jail, then the other half went in

Tell yoo a tale about Rocky, a mate of mine wanted a shotgun, now he wasn't a criminal, so I presume he wanted it to go shooting pheasants etc but they weren't cheap, and he was talking to Rocky one day, and Rocky said he could get him a shotgun for a good price, so he arranged with Rocky to get this shotgun, and Rocky rang him up, and said "this shotgun you want, do you want it sawn"

Well this was in 1986 and the last time I saw Rocky was in 1987 so I don't think that it is right for me to say things about him from such a long time ago, and whether the shotgun thing was a joke, I don't know, but it was long before 'sorn' but it made us laugh, the chap in question who was after the shotgun, died in a motorcycle crash in 1995
