I used to live near there, and as I have previously mentioned the ale in there was always pot, they sold the crapest ale in Pemberton

It wasn't a happy place to drink really, so we used to pop up to the Lion which was slightly better with Marg behind the bar who liked a laugh.

I'm sure the Marg I'm on about had a brother in the forces and lived on Norley back then. I think their surname was Cunliffe, possibly.

Used to go round Pem Saturday nights with mates back in the late 80's - started in the Half Way House, White Lion (?), British Queens (which closed the week after I first went in !!), Jem Lowes, White Swan, another one across the road, Fishergate, another across the road again then to The Aircraft Carrier - Chinese chippy run by an ex Royal Navy Chinese guy who proudly had a picture of his ship on the wall.
Good ale, good food, grand folk, great days !!!!
