Mr Chips Closef
Was surprised today when I walked past Mr Chips/Cafe Select had closed down! Was always a popular chippy always busy especially on a Saturday.
The chippy at the bottom of market Street has gone too. ????

Mr Chips/Café Select is owned by Tony Callaghan who owns umpteen pubs around Wigan, and it is a licensed bar too, so perhaps it is just not viable opening it for the meagre trade which would be there as a takeaway only, and they don't do deliveries, and he has probably furloughed the staff at all his establishments, he was having a moan about everything in the WEP at the beginning of October.

Is Closef Josef's brother? I'm wouldn't be surprised, they're taking over all the cafes and take-aways.
McDonalds will soon become Mashwani's. You'll see !

Imagine, if you will, the ending of the advert for McDonalds. Indian chap saying, "I'm loving it".

Probably a tactical withdrawal from a dying street in a dying town centre.

I believe Howard was a director of Kershaws in years gone by.
Those cockles didn't half go down well with a pint of Guiness!
Nice chap is Howard.

I know I remember him running Kershaws Cockling from the rear of the present Chinese chippy on Poolstock Lane, the one next to Roadside Wines, and that is who I meant although I said the other mon

The one at the bottom of Market Street near the college seemed to be open today when I passed it.
