This never happened to Harold Wilson, and in a place like Wigan, where you once had rock solid support for the Labour Party, and a topic like this would have had people going at each other throats on here, arguing about politics, but such is the lack of support now for the Labour Party in Wigan, a topic like this will barely raise an eyebrow

Even Whupsy seems to be coming round to the idea that the Labour Party is now nothing but a spent force in this country, run by an unelected nasty group (momentum) I mean I cannot see Whupsy ever voting Conservative, because he is a pit mon, and it doesn't matter if the pits have all closed, because once a pit mon, always a pit mon, even Tonker speaks in a loud voice, using sign language, because he is a pit mon too

The grim reality is, you don't get to be Party Leader easily, You have to convince Most of the other Party members that, you are up to the job, So Most of the other labour party members must like him, He's not an easy bloke to like, Unlike Boris, The tories shined at the last election because Boris is likeable and Gorbyn is not,

It was Ed Miliband pushing through changes to the way the leader was elected. It became one man one vote. Previously MP’s had 30 % of the vote and prior to that MP’s chose the leader.
Added to that some MP’s nominated JC as leader to make it more of a contest. Afterwards one MP Margaret Beckett said ‘I was a moron to nominate Jeremy Corbin.’

You know it is not beyond the realm of possibility that Lisa Nandy could be the leader of the Labour Party at the next and quite a long way off General Election, because she is number four in the Shadow Cabinet hierarchy of things, the main mon being leader Keir Starmer, and after the Shadow Chancellor, and the Shadow Home Secretary, the next in line is Shadow Foreign Secretary, which is the position Lisa Nandy holds.

So if Keir Starmer steps down for any reason, Lisa Nandy could win the Leadership of the next Labour Party election and if Labour win the next General Election, then Lisa Nandy will be Prime Minster, and we could have the Prime Minister of Britain living in Wigan, when she is not in Downing Street, so then there would be Mr Speaker who lives in Adlington, Lindsay Hoyle, and Prime Minister Lisa Nandy living in Wigan, Mayor of Greater Manchester living in Leigh

Ian McCartney did a lot of good work for the people of Wigan when he was in Tony Blair’s cabinet. A lot of cash found it’s way into the health service in Wigan that was in the main down to him.

30yrs ago folk were saying to me that when I retire, I would be retiring at 60yrs old, because the retirement would be reduced to that age, but because of the 'immigration' influx of the early 00's and an extra 4 million EU scrounging gits in this country, I had my retirement aged raised by a year to 66yrs old

Going off the evidence provided against her she should have been sacked. Boris as the final arbiter failed to do the right thing, I get the feeling that he always needs to be told what to do or say by others, just look at the mess he's made over Covid.

Yoo work better with a boss who motivates through praise and goodwill, and some employees can be motivated only by inducements, higher reward in the form of higher wages and inducements such as company benefits, such has company cars etc, but some folk can only be motivated by giving them a kick up the backside

If I remember correctly your Father worked for Tarmac or similar and that language would have been commonplace. Certainly my time spent in construction was littered with the eff word.

I can't think of any job where that word is not used, even top chefs use it a lot, although they should not in public, its used often in a ' telling off' situation, It adds sincerity and earnest and is easily understood, so much that even a dog knows it means that, its time to get out of here,

It is understood in any country in the world as well.

I agree, the word is commonplace in a lot of male work environments. In fact commonplace in a lot of people's normal vocabulary these days.
I suppose it depends on the circumstances and the context in which it is used.
My late husband was a pitmon and never, ever used the word at home or within any social gathering.

No reason for it to be used in social situations, I can honestly say I have never used it in the company of females or elderly people. Oh I can come out with some right stuff, I'm no angel, my parents never heard me nor me them it just wasn't done. Now it seems everyone uses it just to communicate, parents to their children and vice versa, that goggle box programme, even the celeb one, seem to promote the use. I can't think of anything worse than using the 'F' word to a parent or child. A sad state of affairs.

Using that word in general conversation, or speaking to children in particular shows a distinct lack of expressive vocabulary.
In other words, ignorance of the English language.

In political terms the Home Secretaries job is known to be a 'poisoned chalice' because most Home Secretaries get sacked, that is both Labour and Conservative, and Theresa May was unique in being able to serve the full term of a Parliament as a Home Secretary under David Cameron.

I think that the reason that most Home Secretaries get sacked, is probably because the Civil Servants who run the Home Office are effin useless
