Well I saw many young people taking their prayer books to church last week.

Then I realised they were taking their videos back.

To be serious I'm a catholic, not a good one I may add, but I try. Religion is a funny and dangerous thing it's caused untold conflicts around the world but I believe everyone has the right to believe in their given religion and that isn't up for question by anyone else.

God Bless You All..Shalom .

No one can tell another person who believes in religion/God that it is nonsense. Bad things have happened in the name of religion because of man, no doubt about that. But you break another's beliefs by belittling it.

Most were taught in school about their religion, some took it onboard and some didn't.

God gave them a brain to choose.

Religion and 'going to church' are two different entities.

Going to church is believing in God, one God, and the way to Him is via many 'agents'.

Religion, on the other hand, is a way of life.

Now then, if 'we', as Christians, turn our backs on on 'going to church', it doesn't mean we are not leading a Christian lifestyle.
The same applies to the Muslims. They might not go to church, but they lead a different lifestyle (although they think they are forced to lead a Christian lifestyle in order to live within British law, which happens to be based on Christianity). (but that's another story).

Anyroadup, religions are 'lifestyles' and that is where the problems start. It follows that, by attending church and using church as a social gathering place, like the Muslims and the Jews do, it leads to union between like-minded people.
Union between like-minded people equals power.
Again, it follows that the more Christians turn their backs on the church, the less power they get as a union. Meanwhile, the Muslims (in particular) all stick together by attending the mosques. More mosques are being built as we speak, there's now 11 in the Bolton area.
The mosque is where the Muslims exchange information. It's the place where they find out the places to go to get things free, to plunder the UK's system.
The Christians just sit back and let it happen.
Soon, they will have more power then us. Islam will take over. Then, you will be forced to attend mosques and become one of them.

We will all be forced to lead a Muslim lifestyle, like it or not.

Last time I went to church, a man tried to drown me!

P.S. - Putin said, "Anyone is welcome to come to my country. But, if they come, they must do as I do!"

In about 1967/68 the Catholic church changed the Sunday mass from Latin to English but could not decide which book and wording to use Over the years again the wording has changed so what do you believe

The priest in a small Irish village loved the rooster and ten hens he kept in the hen house behind the church.
One Sunday morning, before mass, he went to feed the birds and discovered that the cock was missing.

He knew about cock fights in the village, so he questioned his parishioners in church.
During mass, he asked the congregation, 'Has anybody got a cock?' All the men stood up.
'No, no,' he said, 'that wasn't what I meant. Has anybody seen a cock?' All the women stood up.
'No, no,' he said, 'that wasn't what I meant. Has anybody seen a cock that doesn't belong to them?' Half the women stood up.
'No, no,' he said, 'that wasn't what I meant. Has anybody seen MY cock?'

Sixteen altar boys, two priests stood up.

Father O'Brien fainted.

Religion unites a community with everyone abiding by the same rules. problems arise when a community comes across another with different rules. I'm not religious but I do thing a problem with our society now is that many have no moral guidance at all. Does God exist ? it's all about faith not proof. Hindus will say it doesn't matter which path you follow, be it Christian, Muslim or whatever because there can only be one truth. we need to be more tolerant and accepting. people are free to believe what they choose. It doesn't mean that one person's beliefs are better or worse than others. People on here laughing at old bible stories but you have to remember that these tales came long before our understanding of science when people would try and make sense of the world and what life was all about. stories like this exist all around the globe and have passed from ancient cultures and should be respected as such and not laughed at. Well, like I say I'm not religious but each to his own.

i do not remember any words in the testaments spoken by jesus christ that instigated any wars.men and man alone has done that.
interpretation of words of love, peace and fellowship into war has been man's doing.
sometimes as in 1939 we had no option but to defend ourselves, that action did not make us the evil one's.

TerryW. There is no need to apologise for the jokes. I find them amusing and truthful, no denying that the priesthood from various religions have brought religion into disrepute and deserve all they get.
It's the ridicule of people because they have faith that I find distasteful.

When I was at school I attended mass weekly. I was one of 7 children and we were all given a penny each for the plate. We occasionally kept the penny back to spend on the penny tray. Our need was greater than the churches. We never saw sweet for one week to the next.

I class myself has a non practising christian. I have been married for over 45 years and have the certificate to prove it, I was Catholic but got married in a C of E church the missus being of that faith. In either churches eyes I am not married I did not change my faith to C of E so that faith does not recognise me and I did not have a wedding service in the Catholic church so that faith does not recognise me has married either.
Again with christenings Holy Trinity church was my wifes parish and we had our eldest son christened there in 1978 even thou we had left the parish in 1975 but when we wanted our youngest christened in 1981 told no way go to your own parish(St Peters Bryn)which we did.We now only go into any church for Christenings - Marriages -Funerals

It's crazy isn't it Peterp.

So as far as the church is concerned you are living o'er brush!

My father (CofE) married my mother (Catholic). He converted to Catholicism and his family disowned him.

As a result I never got to know a whole side of my father's family, I never met my grandparents and the first time I saw a picture of them and discovered what they looked like was when someone posted a photo on Wigan World when in my 50's (which is what brought me to the site).

Mad.
