Remember this when you are complaining about Polish workers pinching our jobs!

Agreed Tonker. The Poles had some of the best fighter pilots as did many from the British empire who volunteered.

Many treated very badly after the war and not recognised for their efforts and sacrifice, fact is we would have lost the battle without them as we were running out of pilots.

Not often i agree with you t w but i was at conigsby the other day watching arrivals and departures of various aircraft and chatted to some members of a polish family who expressed similar views .
A relation of a member of the family had made the ultimate sacrifice in the Battle of Britain .

Grimshaw. You don't always have to agree with me or anyone else on here, we are humans and have very funny ways and ideas that don't suit everyone. Thanks for your reply.

I have met several Polish people myself whose grandparents had served and died in WWII their pride was also immense.

God Bless them all.

303 squadron shot down the most enemy aircraft during The Battle of Britain, 303 were a Polish squadron. It's time they did something about these Poles, coming over here and winning our wars for us!

I am very much aware that i am not obliged to agree with anyone on any subject but thank you for reminding me .
I do concur re the polish pilots and aircrew .
If you ever find yourself down conigsby way i am sure you would find watching the aircraft most enjoyable .

I agree Tom and I am glad Terry has reminded us all of the significance of today. We should never forget the sacrifices made by foreign nationals who fought alongside British servicemen during the last war.........including the 2.5M Muslims particularly the 40,000 of them who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Eternal thanks to them all and their surviving families.

What do you say Terry?

Tell you what Tom.....If it makes you happier lets leave the subject for a few weeks and when it gets closer to November the 8th then we can talk about ALL the foreign nationals who have fought for Great Britain and lost their lives since WW1, not just those involved in the battle of Britain.

Then we can honour them all then pay respect to their surviving families.

Its a date

Tomplum I think our not so learned friend is remarking on my Muslim comments and trying to goad me.

However me being the clever dickie I am will inform him of the tens of thousands of Muslims recruited into the SS and Wehrmacht by the Nazis many Muslim leaders backed Adolf and his anti semitic views, which they still have today. Hitler even wavered his rule for them on ritual slaughter which he had banned because of shechita. The first non German division was the Muslim The 13th Waffen Mountain Division of the SS Handschar made up of mostly Bosnian Muslims who were ethnic bosniaks they had a worse reputation than the Nazi SS.

Brasstoff. In fact the Zulus had more guns than the British at that time, crap ones I admit. But they had and used at least 1,000 Martini Henry rifles at Rorke's Drift taken from the dead at Isandlwana.

It all depends on the religions excuse for it's terrorism I include my own religion too.

Religion of all nations has put itself up for ridicule, I have no problem or morals when extracting the urine out of whichever religion is news at the time or is on the knock for cash for whatever reasons.

Like I said Creed, a system of religious belief; a faith. Learn to walk before you run, eh. Makes one look rather silly don't you think.

No further comment Terry?.......thats not like you

I can take or leave the Muslims as easily as I can take or leave you and all your hangers on Terry, there is good and bad in every one. What I do find difficult to ignore though is watching you slowly dig a big hole for yourself, seeing you dive in headfirst and then not laughing my lungs inside out when you hit the bottom before desperately trying to change the subject while you attempt to climb out..........and you have just done it all over
again

That ego of yours.......when will you ever learn

Tsk tsk tsk

Yet again I have given you another good spanking and yet again
teased you into revealing yet another side of your very questionable character..........and to be honest it was the easiest one yet

Good lad indeed

Wait till Baz sees this

Sorry about going off topic, but in saying that you do it yourself to others enough times without making apologies so I feel its quite justified. You can have it back now

From Tomplum: "To commemorate the pilots who flew the channel to intercept the German bombers who were Bombing us every day to weaken our defenses."

Yes, indeed. Nor should we forget that King Edward VIII, who married an American prostitute named Simpson, and shared her with von Ribbentrop, Nazi Germany's Foreign Minister, was told by Ribbentrop that the bombing of England was not having the desired effect... the English would not surrender...and would Eddie please tell him what to do. Indeed he could. "You must keep on bombing them, only harder, " said his ex-majesty. Eddie and his ho were living comfortably in the Bahamas at the time. The documents of this exchange were made public a few years back.

But I don't want to end on a sour note. A tiny anecdote. In 1949 I worked for the DeHavilland Aircraft Company at Hawarden, just outside Chester. The test pilots (they were working on the Comet then) were former Battle of Britain pilot and I swear, as they walked through the factory in their flying gear, I thought they were ten feet tall. To this day I see them that way, towering over everyone, marvelous, wonderful, incredible heroic men.

King Edward VIII was treacherous, he was anti semitic and really hated the reds, he told people he would put Eden and the rest of the politicians up against a wall. This was told by Windsor to his Spanish friend Don Javier Bermejillo, what he actually said about bombing was if one bombed England effectively this could bring peace because he wanted peace at any price, this was told to Franco who told the Krauts and the bombing of Britain started on 10 July. All this is in the Spanish archives.
