I'm From Wigan Me: Facebook Group

Is anyone a member of this group on here, because I have never known a more namby pamby, politically correct group in my life, yoo can't say anything controversial on there, because they take it off, and for that reason it does not reflect life, life is not 'sanitised' but 'I'm From Wigan Me' IS sanitised .....

I have a feeling that it is run by Wigan Council employees, because woe betide anyone who criticises the council on there.

Yoo literally cannot say boo too a goose on there.

And no I have not had any posts or topics taken off there lately, because I don't post much on there for the reason that it is 'sanitised'

I think the I am from Wigan me group should be applauded for their stance T2S, Not every member of the chattering classes is interested in slagging the council off and for some it can very off-putting.

However at the other end of the scale, if you specifically want an `un-sanitised` FB site take a look at `WIgan council what are you doing to our town`

Slagging off the council is allowed in there, in fact its actively encouraged! However the contributors usually end up spending more time slagging each other off. It can be quite amusing at times

Not a member myself, but I admit to having a lurk now and again. I am sure if you take a look you will recognise quite a few names

There are extremes there, in that I hate the '`WIgan council what are you doing to our town` group, and I don't think much of the chap who runs it, who is now a councillor, and I haven't looked on there for it must be two years now.

But the 'I'm From Wigan Me' thing is not about them not allowing folk to slag off the council, they don't seem to allow any dissenting opinion about anything, their favourite trick is to turn off comments, about stuff which is not that controversial, you see a topic and think 'oh I will join in this discussion' only to see the "an admin has turned off comments" message.

I don't mind them getting rid of really nasty stuff, but they get rid of none offensive stuff, and they are particularly biased in favour of the council, and saying that I am not a council hater.

So in the future I will endeavour not to even look at that group anymore

The thing is one can't have a lurk now and again without joining and becoming a member.

Terry? I have just double checked and this is what I see........ At the top of the FB page in question I see the following.........I see a blue box that says +join group, another box that says MORE and another that says `join this group to post and comment` There is another box to the right that says `group type general` I can scroll down all the posts and comments but I haven't added to them......not that I would wish too. I cant see anything that indicates or even suggests it is private group.

Are you actually talking about the same group as me?

Still......if you believe I am a paid up member of the site, good luck in your hunt finding me within it, I sincerely hope you don't waste a considerable amount of time in the attempt

You can guarantee that if a site is called "I'm From Wigan Me" it will be full of daft post like 'who remembers' this or that and others posting photos taken from Wiganworld or even photos of what they've had for tea.

I bet most of them don't live in Wigan either.

Well I'm not from Wigan but I should think that me being Wigan world's No 1 major contributor I would be welcomed with open arms on any site because of my knowledge and exceptional personality
