If Tomplum sees that blue alkathene pipe he'll be upthere, on his bike,to collect it!

Its actually called MDPE pipe, Alkathine was the black stuff used in the the 70's as an alternative to copper during the copper shortage, It proves that, who ever dumped that lot was not a plumber because, plumbers are the Kings of recycling, not only do we cycle on bikes and use green energy, we collect any thing useful and use it or, reform it for other purposes,

I couldnt sleep properly last night worrying about these fly tippers who are spoiling our villages and countryside, and the cost we all will have to pay to get it removed.

Girl in Piccadilly Gardens fined £120 for throwing sausage roll crumbs for the birds Easy money for the council who said it was littering and the fine would stand. Were are these enforcement officers when our muched loved travellers leave tons of rubbish after being moved on. Or our beauty spots left covered in rubbish every time the sun comes out.

These fly tippers need reporting by us the public, because there will be lots of people local to that area who will know where that builders rubbish came from.

They reckon that has electric vehicles take over, and petrol and diesel vehicles are phased out, there will be a shortage of copper, because copper is used in electrical wiring

tonker said, Alkathine is MDPE, No its not, they are both plastic but different grades

If tha goes in screwfix and asks for alkthine, they will not sell it but they will sell MDPE.

Tom, honestly, the difference between Alkathine and MDPE is the same as the difference between Tarmac and Asphalt. Or a Hoover and a Vaccuum Cleaner!

Alkathene is the correct spelling- ene relates to the double bonded carbon atoms in the monomer.I will let you expert plumbers tell us about potable water and the use of the blue coloured MDPE as you will know more about that than I do. Also did the name 'change' to assist with recycling as it has the same recycling number 2 as HDPE not 4 like LDPE?

thank you for that mygriffiths, things move on and potable water is now called 'wholesome water' yea, what that means is a 50 year old plumber takes a course and learns all the new terms and is charged for the privilege, then given a certificate from the 22 year old lecturer who takes his money and never gets his/her hands dirty but, goes home in the knowledge that, plumbers now know water is wholesome,

its not what you do, Its who you can do,

Thanks Tom.Does that mean dirty water is now called unwholesome?

Dirty water is 'soiled' rainwater is 'top water' bottled water is ' rip off' water , the reservoirs are low because the ' wrong type' of water is falling from the sky ( I do not understand that one) , freshwater is river water, seawater is salted and tonic water is schepps
