A 13 year old lad was walking along Old Road in Ashton yesterday afternoon when he was struck by an X type Jaguar.
Sadly he has died earlier today.
Both of the vehicle occupants fled the scene. A 15 year old was arrested yesterday and charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
A 21 year old was arrested today. Both have been charged with causing death by dangerous driving.
The car finished up with back end into a side garden wall in the road leading to RL Hughes school.
Old Road has along that stretch has a 20 mph speed limit.

YET THERE ARE STILL PEOPLE AGAINST HANGING.. I'VE SAID BEFORE. IT WAS A MEMBER OF MY FAMILY WHO GOT KILLED. I WOULD STAND UP IN COURT AND TELL THEM "WHEN YOU COME OUT OF PRISON, IF I'M STILL AROUND I WILL KILL YOU"
I HAVE A GRANDSON THAT AGE AND MY HEART BLEEDS FOR THIS BOY'S FAMILY. I PUT MYSELF IN THEIR POSITION AND FIND IT UNBEARABLE TO LIVE WITH..

the law in these cases is in my opinion, far,far too lenient, but whatever sentence is passed on these two ,i am just lost for words to describe them.
however long, it will not be the life sentence of his parents and family,

Three weeks ago, I was pedaling up Landgate lane and there was 3 young teens flying up and down the lane on illegal mini motorbikes.
These are illegal mini motorbike that the parents know they are riding about, so why dosent the neighbors who also live on Landgate get them reported.
A few months ago I was nearly knocked of my bike by a illegal uninsured motorbike rider, who came off at Martland mill and vanished into the Beech Hill council estate, his neighbours will also know he is riding along the canal bank on an uninsured motorbike, so why dont they get him reported because its parents like these whos kids will grown up just as bad as thew parents, maybe even worse.

hurricane I didn't know that. When was up in court.. If I was the woman's family I would find out where he was and break both his arms and legs That's what we are being driven to VIGILANTE justice.. You break the speed limit or park in the wrong place.. No suspended fine for that..

No doubt the Human Rights people would have been involved?? No wonder we have a big crime rate we allow every bit of scum into the country, and if that's being racist Well I'm a racist..

Why wasn't the car impounded? You see these Police programmes on TV where, when a driver is stopped and has no insurance the car is impounded. Appears the police have been lax and on this occasion which has caused a boys life. I would like to see a statement from the Police as to why the car wasn't taken off the road??

What kind of people are the Lawyers, who will no doubt be putting up a defense when he goes on trial? Who are these people who are trying to get him found innocent? They are no better than the people who they are defending.

''3 days before that accident that car was stopped & they had no licence or insurance & they got off scott free ? .''
Where did you get this information from, if this is true it should be investigated by the IPCC or whatever its called these days, its disgusting the way idiots like these get away with breaking the law and then carry on breaking it. It wouldnt suprise me if it was one of these that drove through the red light at Bryn and crashed into the railings, video on facebook somewhere.
And there are idiots like this driving round Ashton and Bryn area all night, you can hear the engines racing...where are the police?

These idiots get away with breaking the law because the locals dont report them, there are that many criminals now and not as many the police, so the police need your help into stopping them before things like this happens

The police may have known that the vehicle was not insured etc and it was being driven by that character, but the police have to catch them in the 'act' of driving the thing, and then the full weight of the law can be brought down on them, including confiscating the vehicle and having it crushed.

Replied: 12th Jul 2020 at 10:37

Driving it it irrelevant. Any motor vehicle found on any public highway, or car park, uninsured, will be taken off the road and impounded. Any vehicle without tax will be reported. Without a current mot certificate, the registered keeper will be fined.

Confiscated cars aren't crushed. They're sold through auctions. (do you think the police would miss a catch on making money?)

Tonker

No,, yoo are missing the point, I know the vehicle can be removed from the highway if it does not have the relevant documentation on it, and I know that if there is any value in the vehicle it will be auctioned off, but a lot of these vehicles these idiots are diving round in are not worth anything.

Police will leave the vehicle there in the hope of catching someone driving it, almost like a trap, unfortunately if they do that, then things like this crash and loss of life can occur.

Hard to believe them tales...until they get the bobby back on the beat in numbers and cultivate local knowledge...we are on a loser...similarly shake the laws up they are getting stale and antiquated...and even the toerag n'eer-do-well's can calculate how long they will serve...like anything else..our system needs shaking up in all departments across all subjects....and judges should retire at 65...they have raped the system for long enough...they are out of touch with common day reality.

Maximum sentence for causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving = 5 years.

For causing death by driving with no licence or uninsured = 2 years.

They have to prove he was driving dangerously for 5 years.
If they can't prove it, and he had no licence or insurance, he'll get 2 years.
The worst scenario would be if they cannot prove dangerous driving and he had a licence and was insured.

Replied: 7th Aug 2020 at 22:43

He was guilty of the first.
He was guilty of the second.
They can prove he was guilty of the third.
he will get 8 years plus because its a high proflie case.
My hope is fifteen years minimum and the judge sets an example
