black boxes

Billinge Biker what are the black boxes for about 20yds either side of the yellow average speed/number plate rec. cameras I have seen these on the A565 Talton/Southport andthe A675 Belmont/Abbey Village roads. They just look like speaker boxes and there are two on posts either side of the cameras. I have looked on speed/anpr sites and cannot find anything like them.

They are referred to as the new 'Vulture' speed camera system, and they are actually infrared LED lights, this new system can actually tell if yoo fart in your car, which I didn't know was an offence

Looks that way, I have always thought they were infrared to help illuminate number plates at neet.
