Public Toilets

Started by: PeterP (11308)

During the last few months most public toilets have been closed. Is it not time the council had a rethink about our public loos? Over the last few years Wigan Council has closed public toilets across the borough and what are left leave a lot to be desired has to their upkeep. Should each area now have new toilet blocks built and maintained by the council?

course they should, everyone needs a toilet, Us blokes can just do, what bloke do but, doing the pandemic my wife won't go anywhere because, she will only use clean well kept toilets, they are few and far between in normal times, All these seaside towns what need our custom need to get some open soon,

when i was a lad in ashton you stayed away from public toilets because they were not being used for what they were designed for if you get my drift
today if i want to go to the toilet when i am out i will go to a pub etc and then give the worker a couple of quid to use the facilities because they are the ones who have to clean them
PeterP tomplum sonlyme
today there is an app you can have on your phone that will tell you were there is a loo near you flush

The public toilets in the town centre, near the market hall are awful.
The ones in the grand Arcade are cleaner and pleasanter.
And none of them are wheelchair user friendly. No idea about the ones on the bus station though.

I have been having a terrible time with it

Where a man goes for a pee, is unfortunately the same place that folk go to fly tip, so the council and farmers have blocked those places off, because of the fly tipping, so yoo try and find a place next to a road where you can have a pee in private ????

Jathbee there are disabled toilets behind the market hall and upstairs in the grand arcade. You can get a wheelchair into the toilet behind the market but it is a tight fit lot more room in the grand arcade toilet. Never used the toilets at the bus station.

It's a turnstile entrance for able-bodied people in the bus station but I suppose they will have access for wheelchair users, it being a new build.

The public toilets in Ashton are being looked into for closing. The seats have been ripped off, excrement smeared on walls and sodomy is commonplace. Council workers go in daily to unluck the doors, look about, change toilet rolls, etc, quick clean up, but if people want to abuse, why should anyone else pay?

TTS the toilet block in Ashton is a dirty disgrace and has not been fit to use for years A new toilet block is needed which can be kept clean and monitored. In Scotland a lot of toilet blocks are attached to public buildings. I know this would not work in Ashton because there are no public buildings to attach to

There are fairly new toilets in Leigh on the Spinning Jenny carpark the council did enough bragging about them when they were built. They only allow one person at a time in each of the three sections The disabled have to have a key These are locked most of the time so why build them.

To be honest, and I am speaking as a bloke, and not a woman, I couldn't care less how disgusting they are, as long as there is somewhere to have a piddle

Now that doesn't mean that I wouldn't like the toilets not to be clean, but if it is a choice between disgusting toilets or no toilets at all, I would say keep the disgusting toilets

Firefox this is why some disabled toilets are having the locks changed because any one can get a (radar) key on the internet and abusing the system We had to apply through the council and our key cost £3.
