Are Wigan People Happy

Started by: keno (2840)

I,ve noticed since be on this Web Site, that Wigan People that are now living away from Wigan are Happier than People that stayed In Wigan,I wonder If the weather has got anything to do with It,also Wiganers that stayed In Wigan have a lot more anger In them.Could It be that Wiganers that stayed In Wigan do,nt like people that have a different views than they have, may be some one out there can enlighten me to this.
It could also mean that Ex Pats are more relaxed, and happier now they have left Wigan,It his only my opinion but I could,nt ever Imagine living IN Wigan again.

I'm happy keno. Wiganer born and bred, still here. Good job, young family - I'm happy with life.

Just out of curiosity (please don't take it the wrong way) - if you couldn't ever imagine yourself living in Wigan again, why spend time on a Wigan site? You must be missing the place a tinchy winchy bit?

I still have lots of friends In Wigan who are very happy like yourself.I had 2 Brothers who came out here and returned to Wigan and now living In a council house, they are quite happy.I am only speaking for myself and not the General population,I still visit Wigan ,did last year.If we all had the same views It would be a funny world.I visit a lot of sites ,another of my favourites his Gravesend Sea school where I did my sea training.I,m happy for you, If I never went to sea and finished up working on the Aussie Coast line and liked the life style here I would probably be still In Wigan.
All The Best For Xmas May you and your family have a Good One,thanks for your comments

I am proud to be a Wiganer ,but I still seem to think different to most Wiganers. You are right when you say that only a minority go onto the Web,probably only the disgruntled ones.THis his one of the most Informative Web Sites I know.

The only time I was Unhappy being a Wiganer was on a visit In 1984 I took my Son To Wembley to see Wigan get beaten by Widnes, the star of Widnes was an ex Wigan player named Lydon,he spoiled my visit.

The hardest part was coming back to Wigan on the Coach, other Coaches full of Widnes supporters would drive along side Wigan Coach and a lot of Widnes supporters would bare their arses to us through the windows .I called that rubbing It In ,had travelled 12000 miles for that, my first visit to Wembley .Happy Xmas and a Better New Year.

there are two types of people in the world
those who are wiganers and proud of it
and those who wish they were wiganers

When it comes to St Helens public enemy number one surely it was Alec Murphy,he was the one we loved to hate because he was simply the best half back at the time. I wished he played for Wigan with Dave Bolton what a partnership that would have been, simply magic.

Public enemy number one for me was Vince Karalius. He made a lot of openings for Murphy. On one of tours to Australia they took 3 loose forwards because they were so good.Karalius.Johnny Whiteley and Turner from Oldham.

When Karalius was on tour over here about 1962 I think England had a great side ,also Whiteley, and Derick Turner, after that year It was all down hill after.I had a night out with the whole team ,my Brother and I at the
Eastern Suburbs Leagues Club we got home6am
There where a lot of Wiganers In the Team.
Mery Xmas to you all

I,m not happy at all I,m fed up living on a 6and a half acre bush block annoyed by Wallabies,Goannas,Bush Turkies,Carpet Snakes Possums, and Kookurras waking me up
In the morning screeching I,m fed up when
I drive Into Coffs Harbour and all the
the Tourist have taken all our Parking spots ,I think how much parking his In
Wigan.

I pine for the club life of Wigan ,It would leave the clubs for dead over here or the Gold Coast.I have asked my brother to look out for a Council house ,In Abram
Scholes or Norley Hall.I would,nt be surprised If a few more Wiganers want to join me.All the best For you all and a better New Year for me.

Could it be that all the miserable Wiganners have left it and gone to pastures green - and left all the happy Wiganners in Wigan??

In my experience, if you find a place that is that good, don't tell everybody about it as the whole world will want to be there and then ruin it!!

I suspect the more u r drinking the green green grass of home is getting greener. Yer a daft brush.

The expression ,"Yer a daft brush',I hav,nt heard since when I was In Wigan back In 1984
I had a Lady friend who always called me that. She use to have a stall In Wigan Market
It sold Knickers and Bras, she was a very hard working Lady, her name was Kate.We use to go to Chaplins Club,In King St I think.

Have you noticed a lot of people who come on this site talk abou Wigan?.

you must be bonkers wantin a council house in scholes. Theres lots of nice folk livin in Scholes, but equeally there is some who have turned it into a nitemare place to live so most o the decent ppl are tryin to leave the place, which is a shame. My uncle used to live in scholes int sixties and I had fond memories o the place till someone I know who has lived there only a few years enlightened me. Mind u thats just her opinion but I do trust her judgement so nope I wudnt wanna live there.....tho lotzaplaces are turnin not nice these days (sigh)

I moved away from wigan 14 years ago, I was neither miserable nor sick of wigan...opprtinity knocked so I answered. Now , would I move back to wigan, the answer is no, would I move back to england, no...I made my choice then and plan to stick to my decision.I do miss Wigan, which is a whole different thread, but just do not want to live there no more.

I think we do some things In our Lives
which are for better or worse, like you Stuart It was the best decision of my life to move to Ausse,It,s one I never regretted,
I would not of liked my children to have
been brought up In Wigan as I was.I,m sure
I could never have had the same success In
my life If I had of stayed In Wigan.
Dark horse I was only joking about moving
back to Scholes,I,ve lived here In Aussie
now for 56 years I,m hardly likely to move
back to Wigan permantly, visit maybe ,but never permanently that would be a retrograde step .Thank you for your comments.

Billinge rain, (or Billinge Mist as it is commonly known), only falls on Wigan if theres a wind strong enough to blow it there.
