You could be right, Mick - but I can't see a Whelley worthy doing such a thing - perhaps a charlatan from Shevington...?

. . . and the landlord and staff are not going to notice someone's stamped over one of their own pub's tokens?
Probably the same cunning gang of counterfeiters who tried to pass five pound notes off as tenners, by scribbling over the £5 sign with pencil, and scrawling £10 in its place.
