They're not usually called 'barges' - that's reserved for wide-beam craft. They're known as narrow boats. Just for future reference....

Most people know a barge as a flat bottomed boat !

I lived in Apply Bridge in the late 50 and 60 and (narrow boats) were called (Barges) by us kids, we used to swim in a place called Sandy Bottoms in the endless summers of our youth, I actually remenber seeing some Barges being pulled by horses Patrick Australia
