Prices were low in those days, 9d (4p) for the circle and 1/- (5p) for the stalls. does anybody know what date these tickets would be, 1930s or 40s perhaps?

I would say later than that, with the four-digit telephone number. Fifties at least, but am happy to stand corrected; it's only a guess.

In the early 50s it was at least 1/6d to sit in the stalls at all the main town centre cinemas. i.e The Ritz, Court Cinema, County and Princes.

I would also say the 50s,I do know in the very late 40s,it was 7d in the front few rows, and 10d for the other seats in the Hindley Rex.

First House, Second House. Just shows how popular the cinema was! And the price of the ticket....you could loose that sum now and think nothing of it!!

Where was the County? I have visited the other three mentioned!

The County was in King Street, the building still exists, says "County Playhouse" on it. It's on the right when going down from King Street.
