I am sure that my dad mentioned having a relative named Syd Boyd who played for Wigan. Julie do you know if you have any Johnsons in your distant relations?

Julie, Ive just spoken to my uncle and confirmed what I thought. Syd was my grandmothers brother and he married someone named Brankin and lived Southport way when he`d finished playing rugby,apparently he played for Salford as well as Wigan. Its a small world.

According to the records a Boyd, no initial given, played for Wigan 1920 to 1922. Completed 20 games and scored 5 tries.

Hi Julie. My father is 96 and his mother, Ada Brankin was a business partner of Syd and apparently he lived with the family in Formby but according to my dad they were not married. If you pick this up would love to compare notes. Cheers Mark
