I cant place the first lad
John Togher,Jimmy Woosey,Rob Rotheram,Jimmy Ball,Terence Calter,
front row
Michael Hannon, Keith Dootson,Dennis Brookfield,
Ronnie Cowburn, Joe Roughly.
The first lad could be Ronnie Cowburns brother but not sure the photo is taken on Bamfurlong Rec and the team is A.P.B.reserves, not quite sure of the year but it is in the 60s
Thought someone would recognise it.I hadnt a clue, seeing as im a lot younger than them!
I think the first lad is [W]Billy Cowburn
APART FROM JOHN AND TERENCE THE REST OF THE LADS CAME FROM HINDLEY, IN THE 70S THEY FORMED HINDLEY TOWN, I THINK KEITH AND RONNIE ARE STILL INVOLVED
My dad (Mick Hannan) is bottom left. He claims to have scored two goals that day...can anybody verify this? :)
Hiya Sheldon, its Liams mum.Typical of your dad to claim 2 goals!
The lad on back row left is my brother Billy Cowburn.
dont know whether Mick Hannan scored two that day,all I can say is that Mick wasnt fast but he was tricky.
Thanks Ronnie "Tricky" Sound like I could play a bit.
Take care. x
to answer sheldons question your dad did score that game they were put on a plate for him by the lad 3rd from left back row cant think of his name
I used to play for Highfield, but we also played for a team in the Warrington league some from Highfield and some from what was APB Keith Dootson and Jimmy Ball were amongst some of the APB lads who used to play.Everywhere we played we were hated for coming from Wigan. I did play a season at APB in the early 70's greetings to you all,if anyone is in contact with Keith I would appreciate it if you pass on my E-mail adress to him.If you look up Highfield FC site you will see a press cutting of our cup win in Warrington in 1970 Cheers Dick.
That's my dad and my uncle billy .. They told me over the years how good they were!!! Bout millon times but who's counting... Good photo
Did Dennis take out their goalkeeper in this match, i believe this was the usual tactic.
I went out with Rob Rotheram in 1967, it was nice to see a photograph of him.
