This looks like a school team Cardinal Newman maybe
Yeah i suppose it could be.Ive no idea.
this team is the fishwick foods team probably taken in the 1960s before the food factory had developed, it is taken in front of the canteen which was the park colliery (stones) canteen. back row left is alan o·brien back row right is john harrinson the person in the middle is mr gordon fishwick the factory owner, the buildings to the rear are the old pit head baths of the colliery
Does look like Cardinal Newman. Is the goalie Paul Maloney?
That is deffo Cardinal Newman Hindley
It could be Fishwicks because my brother worked there.
Just thinking if it was 1960s my brother would'nt be old enough to work there. He left school in 1969.
If it was Cardi they look too old to be at school and the goalie does look like Paul Maloney. He was in my class at Cardi so must have been playing over age football.
the goalkeeper is john littler (mad jacks) other names are freedie ashcroft, joe ashall, mick ?. anne your brother worked in the boneing dept, but looking at the undeveloped food factory site i feel it must have been in the 60s, in the 70s all the long grass was gone & the large sub zero cold store was built on that plot of land ajacent to liverpool road ashton/makerfield
Like i said he only left school in 1969 so maybe it was 1970-71.
My brother has cofirmed that this is Fishwicks football team.
