Hi Ron can you recall a miserable saturday at headingly when we earned a draw it was thanks to that BOOT of PUNCHY Griffiths the score was 5--5 we brought back to central park on the following Wednesday and thrashed them ( that was the match were ERIC ASHTON was sent off for the first time i think in his career against Jack Fairbanks , I whacked it from school that day and got onto the spion kop what a day another for the owd memory box ,Have to say FRED was exceptional full back another great !!!

l was at that game and I agree with everything Alan says. I remember when Punchy retired Wigan signed a player John Winton that was going tobe the next Punchy Grifflths not in the same class. Now the bloke who came with him Trevor Lake another great winger.
