I took this photo on one of my infrequent visits to my home town of Wigan, probably over 10 years ago, situated in the Clarington Grove area where my mother's family once lived.
It shows a match at Wigan St Patricks Amateur Rugby League Club, based at Clarington Park.
Because I'm a long term absentee from my home town I cannot offer any player's names, perhaps other can.
As their webpage says they provide their community with fantastic Rugby League experiences, on and off the field, at all levels of the game, and have 16 teams at the club offering playing opportunities for a wide range of age groups.
They have a highly qualified team of volunteer coaches who work hard to ensure that every player has the opportunity to reach their highest potential.
The club has been a fantastic feeder club over many years for the town's Rugby League team. Some of the game's greatest players have played here, a tribute to the dedication of all those involved at the club - a treasure of the town's sporting heritage.

This photograph of St Patrick's rugby club was taken before 1995 as the Upsidedown Houses, Belvoir, Church and Higham Court were demolished that year. St Catherine's CE church spire is visible but St Patricks RC church is just out of the picture.

Doesn’t time fly. Thank you Mr X for putting the time frame closer to reality. It’s more than likely that was when it was taken, little wonder l could not remember when.

yes roy I remember the club house being the canteen for st pats and st cats and the pitch being nothing but compacted dirt and mud but what came flooding back to memory was the stench of the dump across the cut
