Brilliant nostalgic picture. Scoring the club's first ever try is a record that can never be broken. Something to be proud of. And a Wiganer at that!
A proud family memory I am sure. One to treasure.
Cheers Alan, and Bill.
I'm very proud. I've just started digging things out.
However, Did he get downward pressure on the ball!
Without a shadow of a doubt, he did.
Another Wigan lad that played for Blackpool was Jimmy Hooper. I went to school at the same time as Jimmy. I believe I am slightly older. I believe he emigrated to Australia.
Don't forget that famou's Wigan Lad Billy Boston.
Albert, I remember seeing Jimmy Hooper, only about 18 years old at the time, playing for Wigan in 1955 around October. He played about 8 or 9 games at scrum-half while Tommy Parr was out injured but didn't play many more times after Tommy Parr was fit again.
Hi John. I do recollect that he did play several games for Wigan, I watched him play, in a couple of them, when I was on leave.
Jimmy Hooper made 12 appearances for Wigan in between 1955/7. He scored 1 try in a match between Wigan v Wakefield on Oct 1st 1955 in which Wigan won 21-10.
Another player who played for Wigan and Borough was Full Back Kia Bose.A Figian.Early Sixties.
Colin, Kia Bose made 1 appearance for Wigan in 1962. I do see him regularly at the DW though, he was there against Hull FC.
