Wigan Album

Tom Woods, according to the record books was Seaman Tom Woods, joined Wigan with Welshman Wilf Hodder in 1921, both played for Pontypool but Tom was English and had played for England at Rugby Union.
One story goes that during an emergency situation, Woods captained the Wigan side, and at half-time,in a match that was becoming "over-heated", gave a caution to the whole team not to engage in rough play and risk being sent off. The game was barely 10 minutes into the second half when the crowd saw the referee give Woods his marching orders.
