The first "English" RL Tour to Australia (there were 7 Welshmen in the party of 25) in 1910. Wigan had 5 representatives, two of whom were Welsh, Johnny Thomas and Bert Jenkins along with Dick Ramsdale, Jimmy Lytham and Jim Sharrock. All 5 Wigan players were in the first Test when they beat Australia by 27 points to 20 in front of 42,000 - they also won the second and final test. This photo was sent back to England by Wigan's Johnny Thomas.

Forgot to mention that these first ever RL tourists wore cherry and white jerseys so beloved of the Wigan Club. The Wigan club at this time had just had its first ever really successful team, hence its contribution of 5 members of the party. My typo - it is James (Jim) Leytham, who sadly drowned in a fishing boat incident in Morecambe Bay in 1916, he was 36 years old. He had finished playing and Lancaster was his hometown.

G Dell, seated extreme right on the front row, I have discovered was not a Manager but a "visitor".

Billy Batten on the front row of the photo, I think he was awarded a Victoria Cross.

Just read up on it, I think it was Jack Harrison who was awarded the V.C.
