hi David. sorry to hear that your gr8 grandad is nolonger with us.johnny was my grandads nephew [joe].I met him quite a few times and remember him very fondly, was always told what a great winger he was.

hi thanks yes i seen a video of him from when he was at wembley with workington. every1 i talk to n say he was my gr8 grandad say they remember him by kicking the ball and then catching it and going in for a try lol. gutted i neva got to see him play only me play rugby league now in are family

Hi David, I've only just come across your comment. Very sad to hear about Johnny's passing, he was a playing colleague of my father and although I only met him once (about 4 years ago) he seemed a very cheerful and friendly person. My father often commented that he also had that unique ability to kick the ball forward and invariably make it bounce back towards him as he raced forward to collect it again - I bet present day players wish they had that talent. Your grandfather will always be a treasured family memory for us. Best wishes, Keith Bowen.
