I was part of this team 61/62 season although I missed the photo shoot due to injury. I think the team we lost against was one from Manchester university which had a certain Bev Risman in it,s ranks. That team was outstanding as we where all 16 or 17 at the time and as there was no league all our games where by invitation only and some of the teams had more than their quota for over age players. My childhood friend Colin Blackledge was killed riding his motor bike to work soon after this photo was taken so its a pleasure to see a picture of him again, he was a gent. Also Colin (nobby) Clark signed for Wigan soon after who I thought was a good hooker but a bit slow, boy did he prove me wrong.Alan Whitworth I thought was the captain who also signed over to rugby league I think Blackpool Borough he was a powerful player and I was sure he would make a name for himself. A few others tried league has I did myself but injury stopped my career.Eric Lion stayed at orrell and was promoted to the first team and eventually was selected for Lancashire and I believe it was only his height that stopped him playing for England

R Thompson, was your name Roy?, I remember after all these years that someone was missing, and George Cranston was put in the foto to make up the numbers
