Is w. Johnson 'Massa' Johnson who played for Wigan too?

Lance Todd had close connections with the Wigan Club having been a player with them. In 1938 watching the preliminary match before the season got underway, between Wigan and Warrington at Central Park, several of the season's new signings were "on display". It was always of great interest to see if the Club had spent "wisely" and Lance Todd was asked his opinion. His reply was "Ward (that's Ted Ward) won't make it but Bowen (that's my father Jack Bowen) will". Ted did in fact "make it" and had a great career at Wigan and my own father went on to play 150 games for Wigan and played for Wales - so he also "made it".
