The boy with the ball between his feet is Harold Osbaldeston who went on to play for Wigan Highfield and Salford.

Harold played full back for Salford (captained by Gus Risman) when they were beaten in the Lancashire Cup Final at Swinton by Wigan in October 1938. Jim Sullivan kicked all of Wigan's 10 points and my father Jack Bowen played loose forward along with a very young Joe Egan and Ken Gee. Don't feel too sorry for Harold, Salford were a dominant force in the 1930's and they won a good number of other trophies. Dad is still living in Wigan aged 93.
Does anyone know if this club or any associated club of Whelley Old Boys still exists, i have a great picture that i would like to give to the club if it still exists in some form.
