I always knew it in Mesnes St Dave, on the corner with Upper Dicconson St. This shop was taken over by Oliver Somers sports about 40 years ago, then demolished for the new road.

The shop was started by this Tom's son, 'Young Tom'.

Tom Hughes's shop was in Wallgate near the V W motors,the first chap onthe left looks like my grandad , James Chisnall, he was a founder member of Wigan Wheelers, My mother was also a member but i cant pick her out on the photo, she would have been 18 at the time

I remember getting my first ''proper'' bike from Tom
Hughes in Wallgate.
