i remember going to the game DES O CONNER and MR PASTERY played that day.
I still have the programme from the game. I think Mr Pastry i.e. Richard Hearn was linesman. Didn't a young lad fall through the popular side, stand roof?
i knew pat was a right footer
Sadly, Jennifer is no longer with us, having passed away a few years ago.
I remember being there for the kickoff, but left soon after,I'm a rugby man!
Did the young woman play the part of Lucile Hewitt?
Jennifer Moss did play the part of Lucille Hewitt, her Dad's name(in Corrie)was Harry Hewitt,i think he was married to someone called Concepta?(she was a barmaid in the Rovers, under Annie Walkers regime)
There are some sad sites out there :)

I seem to remember going to that game with my Dad and Grandfather. Did someone fall through the stand roof that day or was that another of those Showbiz matches.
Horace if you read my comment. You will see I mentioned that I thought a young lad had fallen through the roof of the stand, on the popular side. If two of us can remember it it looks like it was correct<g>
I ALSO REBEMBER SOMEONE FALLING FROM THE POPULAR STAND THAT DAY
I went with my older brother, Ronnie. His idol was supposed to be playing that day: Stanley Matthews...Unfortunately, I don't think he was fit, and cried off...Anybody remember?
Jarvo. I remember seeing Stanley Matthews play at Springfield Park, not 1962 but in a friendly on or around New Years Day 1969 with Port Vale. I think he may have been their Manager at the time. I also think he was around 53 at the time.
Pat missed the ball at the kick-off and almost fell flat on her back but was saved by a Rotary Club official who caught her. She also helped Jennifer with a blanket collection.
A 14 year-old lad called James Green from Marsh Green fell ten feet through the stand roof when a section of asbestos covering collapsed. He suffered minor head injuries, cuts and bruises.
