I am the first to admit I know nowt about Rugby so hee is a question.. dont all shout at me !! On this stone he is reffered to as Captain Lancelot. Is it because he was a rugby captain or a military captain?
Lance came to Wigan in 1907 and played 185 matches for the club and played for Lancashire twice in 1910. He later became famous as the team manager of the very successful Salford side of the 1930's and after that as a radio reporter on the sport. He married in 1911 Ann Blaylock Samuels at All Saints Church, Wigan.
Todd only weighed 10 stone but was remarkably quick and was able to look after himself having been a jujitsu expert. Scored 120 tries in 144 matches and had a legendary partnership with Joe Miller (he came from Pemberton). Uproar from Wigan supporters when Wigan transferred him in 1914 to Dewsbury. Meeting held at Co-Operative Hall to protest and Lance addressed the supporters.
