Chorley Road, Standish near the railway bridge. We have had no snow in the last winter, but bad snowy winters in the last century were 1940, 1978/79, and 1981/82. The most notorious were 1946/47 and 1962/63.

Philip G., thanks for your response. As a long-time card collector myself I was aware of the rarity and value. I was more interested in finding out something about the issuing company, Bake-A-Cake Ltd, i.e. where they were in Wigan and what happened to them.

Eileen and Tommy, I agree there is a definite resemblance between my mum and Rosalind. I'm keeping fine and trust you and yours are too in these difficult times.

By the looks of the clothes it could be the 1940s. We came home from foreign parts in 1947 & that winter was the first time I had seen snow in my life.
