30th June 2020 would have been my late mother's 100th birthday. Here she is, along with younger brother Albert, ankle-deep in snow in Chorley Road, Standish. This would be late 1930's/early 1940's. Uncle Albert still lives there!

I like how their faces lit-up in the snow Philip. Oh, and if you're the gentleman who'd posted the Bake-A-Cake card (Item 32086), perhaps you might like to tell me if the tip I gave had been of any value [?]

Hello Philip, what a lovely photograph. Rosalind looked so much like your mother don't you think?
Hope you're all keeping well.
Very best regards,
Eileen and Tommy.

Chorley Road, Standish near the railway bridge. We have had no snow in the last winter, but bad snowy winters in the last century were 1940, 1978/79, and 1981/82. The most notorious were 1946/47 and 1962/63.

Philip G., thanks for your response. As a long-time card collector myself I was aware of the rarity and value. I was more interested in finding out something about the issuing company, Bake-A-Cake Ltd, i.e. where they were in Wigan and what happened to them.

Eileen and Tommy, I agree there is a definite resemblance between my mum and Rosalind. I'm keeping fine and trust you and yours are too in these difficult times.

By the looks of the clothes it could be the 1940s. We came home from foreign parts in 1947 & that winter was the first time I had seen snow in my life.
