The Mayor in 1939, was Alderman T. Ramsden.

That is not Tommy Ramsden.Are you sure about the year?Mayor making was in November in those days.

The Mayor from November 1939 was A C Fairhurst of St Andrew's Ward .A Conservative.I think it is he

Donald. I am going off the date. 8th of November, 1939. The Mayor. Alderman T Ramsden presented some picture to Hindley Council, to mark his year of office, as the Mayor of Wigan.

Albert.You are right about that.A C Fairhurst was elected to the Mayoralty the next day.I remember Ramsden.He was much shorter than this man.
