A night out in good company.....left to right.....Tommy O'Brien, Norah O'Brien...Helen Johnson....my parents Dorothy and Arthur Hayes......think the year would have been around the late 40s. Norah and Helen were my Dad's Sisters.....my Dad always very dapper in his bow tie.... :)

Tom O'Brien was my godfather, and he was also the best man at my parents wedding.

Lizzie your dad was a very dashing looking man. He reminds me very much of Clark Gable.

Thanks Bill and Margaret, Dad would probably have a bit of a chuckle about a Clark Gable look alike, I would agree Margaret....
Bill, Maureen and I still keep,in touch.....I wonder if she would remember you.....cheers!!!

is the tom and norah the couple who used to live in careless lane years ago, they had three daughters, i think the oldest one was maureen, then leonora and the youngest jane, she was the one i used to play with, she had a beltin see saw in her back yard.

Yes Kam they are the ones, Norah looked after her Mum, Lizzie as she was crippled with arthritis....My granny had the downstairs room as her bedroom with the big bay window at Careless Lane....I remember the last visit to Aunty Norah's house before we left for Australia....saying good bye to them all......Granny Hayes was bedridden by then....but her room was very pretty and she had pink satin bed sheets.... :)

lizzie down under...a few flash memories there whrn you mentioned granny in the front room, dont ever remember going into that room, a faint memory is of someone being in there, i remember janes mum sayinf i shaped like a wet pea if i did something silly, i use that saying myself now, and have done for years, i loved the sea saw that jane had, we had some fun on that, tom was a lovely man, where is jane these days, we are both getting on a bit, to old for sea saw now but would still have a go.
