A happy young lady wearing a cotton pinny in a terraced back street. She looks a million dollars, even in her work-clothes, compared to the girl in our local post-office yesterday wearing her pyjamas without even a coat over them.....I'd like to see HER working in a mill and looking so happy as this lovely girl. A brilliant photo of a time now gone.

It's a beautiful photo, Eileen, one of the most evocative of its time on this site. I just can't place Queens Road in Platt Bridge. Whereabouts is/was it, please?

It was back to back with Moss Lane facing the ambulance station the middle of the two schools St Nats and Moss Lane,it was demolished in the 80's.We faced Stanley Rd before the ambulance station went up.

Hi Eileen this photograph brought back many memories of years gone by. I am straining my memory back because I think that you were probably in the same class as me at Moss Lane. I was there from 1953 to 1957. Do you remember me?
I lived in Tram street Platt Bridge and I had a cousin in Queens road, her name was Beryl. My Aunty and Uncle's name was John and Martha who also lived in Queens Road. Eileen did you ever go to Moss Lane school camp at Penmeanmawr? Did you go to the class reunion in the Railway pub in Wigan way back? I was the only male that turned up. Looking forward to hearing from you.
Best Wishes
Arthur

Arthur you were the only male who turned up at Marjorie Lyons(Holden)s pub in Walgate in 1991 and a photo as previously been put on the site of all the girls.
