This is my Granddad and Grandma,Rose and Larry sharkey,i have seen this pic before but cant remember where or when.

It was always one of those daft pub quiz questions "who had a Number One in the charts and signed for Wigan Rugby League, but never played" answer Jimmy Young ! Could anyone cast some light on that or were we all victims of a big hoax?

Guardian 3 June 2002 did a profile of him: "Early 1920s: Born in Cinderford, Gloucestershire, original name Leslie Ronald Young. The son of a miner, he was an excellent boxer and rugby player, turning down an offer of a professional career with Wigan rugby league club."
