Ron was he related to Lawrence Isherwood, the Painter, and Gordon Isherwood who had the shoe shop in Wallgate. There is definitely a resemblance.

In the early eighties when I became interested in my ancestors,I went to Gordon Isherwood's shop near the station to see what he knew about the Leyland Family. He wasn't interested in the Leylands but told me all about this man,'The Hatter'and showed me this photo.
He told me that Lawrence knew about the Leylands so I rang him and we had an interesting if somewhat bizarre conversation. Some things had been lost in the fire and all the Leyland photographs made them look like Genghis Khan! He would find them, come to Horwich with them and we could get to know one another!!

Sorry Kath but Jim was a bit of a ladys man lol. And John Henry was Harry Isherwood Jim and Gordons Father. I know some people knew Jim as Lawrence but the family always called him Jim.

Hi Kath if you have any information on the Leyland family can you let me know and I'll pass it on the Marguerite Isherwood who loaned me this photograph.
Yes he is related to Jim and Gordon Isherwood.
I have a fantastic photograph of the marriage between the Leyland and Isherwood families, in 1915, I will be putting on the site soon.

Before I left my previous comment I spent ages commenting on one of the shop pics about Leyland shoemakers and the connection between their family and mine but it seems to have got lost! I think it's not going to appear but will wait till tomorrow before I start again!

Kath I think the comments you left, regarding your family connection, is under the Greenough Street Shoe Shop picture.

Ron, I commented on the shop site before this pic appeared so I intended it to be there. I redid it this morning! Maybe I pressed 'go back' instead of 'submit'.
