chris, how lovely is this pic of your aunty, and in those days women did pay attention to detaile ,they were so feminine not like todays girls, more the pity, women then were so beautiful they knew how to dress i love waching old films like bette davis etc i love the clothes and the furniture and just the tidy lovely streets of then , i wonder whats happened to people today they have no pride anymore.thankyou for this lovely photo x.
Yes Josie I agree with you about the girls of today, we seem to have lost so much of what came natural to people of aunty Margaret's era. She never married and was a very independant and hard working lady. It's such a shame when I see her looking so lovely in these photo's that she ended her days with alzhiemers.
I AGREE, SHE IS STUNNING. MY HUBBY AND I WENT TO THE PICKERING WAR WEEKEND LAST WEEK, AND THE PEOPLE DRESSED IN FORTIES CLOTHES WERE SO SMART. I BOUGHT MYSELF A NEW HAT FOR NEXT YEAR'S EVENTS, VERY SIMILAR TO AUNTY MARGARET'S AND CAN'T WAIT TO WEAR IT; UNFORTUNATELY IT WILL BE NEXT YEAR BEFORE THE FORTIES EVENTS RE-COMMENCE, BUT I KNOW I WON'T BE ABLE TO RESIST TRYING IT ON NOW AND AGAIN!
You will have to visit our Group Irene, bring your new hat....... they dress like that all the time
Thanks Irene for your comments, we also think Aunty Margaret was stunning when she was young. Enjoy wearing your new hat, the youngsters of today have no dress sense at all, but perhaps it's not their fault, it's all these stick thin fashion models the media promote that they seem follow but there is nothing like a woman looking feminine for me and having some shape to her body.
Is that the George Formby group, Gerry?
