Taken in the fields at the rear of 236 Ormskirk Rd looking towards Ashurst Beacon Very Sadly all the fields are gone, though at least they kept part of the Beacon area.

Nice to see another pic Martin. I know the pic was in the 50's but I can't believe all the fields have gone. Many happy hours spent cycling around the lanes with a few jam sandwiches & a bottle of pop in my bike basket. We would be gone most of the day. Favourite lane was the one down between The Hare & Hounds & Mrs Rigby's shop.

Thankyou Helen, I miss this place more than any where else. Down the same lane past the Hare and Hounds, we just called it down the brook. Helen if you would like to see ariel views then go onto Lancashire Lantern and find a picture in the area then click on Mario Maps . You can see the 1960's 1940's and today. I found it very interesting as I could see alot more of what has gone and it gave my memory a jog in the bargain.Still go for walks in the area in but it is not the same...................

Thanks for letting me know about Lancashire Lantern Martin, have had a look & amazingly there is a pic of a Mrs Hesketh..I don't recall the name but I do know it was the house I used to go to for piano lessons...not that I ever was any good or pleased my mother ! The house was next to a farm owned by the Rigby's, the son was Arnold Rigby & we got our first dog from a litter at the farm. The house the other side looked as if it may have been a pub years ago, big cobbled courtyard in front...I also found a pic of the 'clog shop ' which was further down the road & where we took shoes to be mended...I hated the errand of having to go through the gate & down the side path into the old shop. Haven't got the hang of the maps yet but I will. Thanks
