This is a painting of my grandma - unknown to me - Ellen Hunt née Hartley. The portrait is signed by a G Foster 1934. It is very likely that this chap would have been local. Anyone shed any light on G Foster?

Yes, it is lovely and the colours are beautiful. Did anyone watch the BBC drama "Lilies" a few years ago? The lady looks very much like the character Mrs. Brazendale.
What a lovely and lively picture !! I,d love to have a go at doing a pastel drawing of it sometime.

dk,George Foster was your was your Aunty Sybil's husband, your Grandma's brother in law
Hi, I have a pastel by George Foster and the girl in the picture is Barbara Gibson aged 1 yr & 11 months. She knows him as Uncle George. Does this ring any bells with you? Regards Daniel P.S it is also dated 1934
