This is the same row of houses on Wigan Road as the previous 3 photos this time looking from the water fountain in Jubilee park. To date this one is not too difficult the house which was known as Dr Cobhams later Dr McCurdys does not appear in this photo my house which is in the middle of this row was built in 1890 Dr Cobhams is dated 1908 so the photo is about 1900

Brilliant set of pictures David although I must say a little strange to see the place we played as kids in the 1970's as it was over 100 years ago - very different but very recognizable.

The McCurdy family must have continued in medicene. My doctor was Doctor McCurdy in the ealy seventies but his surgery was on the corner of Old Road and Osborne Road.

I must say the boys look very smart. I bet that was the Ashton Grammar School uniform. I also used to go to Dr McCurdy's surgery on the corner of Osborne Rd.
