30 men were commemorated on the Memorial placed on the outside of the West wall of St Mary's. It was unveiled on September 28th, 1950, by Tom Brown, MP for Ince. The Vicar was the Revd. John Bebb. The memorial was lost when the church was demolished in 1978, reportedly too eroded to be kept. A new Memorial, with 50 names connected with Lower Ince, was dedicated in the present St Mary's church in 2002.
No Memorial lists all of the 124 from Ince who died in WW2. Thanks to Dr Eric McPherson's book 'Roll of Honour', we do at least know their names, and perhaps they will be properly honoured in the township sometime.
