well remember this as a kid sisters hubby used to work there it was a noisey place

I now live on the estate built on the glassworks site. All the streets are named after types of glass: Dartington, Waterford, Crystal, etc.

i used to ride a plaque 90 across there as a kid before the bobbies spoiled it and my dad used to work there

i work at class works 1965 to 1968 i work in the yard jimmy smith was crain driver then & roy smith was batchman we ad some great times working there i finish 1969

I can see it now the building of the bottle works when I was a small boy.I used to play on the big digger Ruston Buckerus RB 10 they were I used to live on the farm at Foggs Fold my old mate was Johnny Such who lived at No.2 Foggs Fold with his mum and dad and two sister dad Oliver mum Agnus sister Kathleen and Jean last but not leased Johnny.
At No1 was The Oldfields No.The Sutches No3 The fosters
4 My Dads Antie Annie.No.5 The #Carrs No6 My Grandad Peter And His wife Serphia.No7 mr and mrs Harrison.No8 The Sharringams and last of all No9 The Parkinsons.
I could tell some fun stories that went on at The Farm And the Fold with me Johnny Linda Oldfield Pat Carr we did not have alot but made up in our own fun games we would get up to. I must not forget our Bob (Burrows) who came along in 1950 and the things he would get up to as he grow up.

my owd fella used to be the chargehand fitter there for many years; My grandad and uncle john both worked there too. Is this photo taken from the mersey rd area of the estate?

Peter:

It's Ruston Bucyrus. Ruston's of Lincoln build of Bucyrus (of USA) range of excavators and face shovels and the like.

If you google 'Ruston Bucyrus', you will find a huge range of pictures of them.

They were to be seen in huge numbers hereabouts in the 1950's and 1960's, particularly working coal seams in open-cast excavations, until displaced by the more modern style of digger.
