I recall another range cooker just like the one in the photo. It was in the kitchen of the school house part of the old Holland Moor Primary School on Ormskirk Road. Sat my 11plus exam there . My friend Jean Gaskell & her parents lived in the house. Think her father was the school caretaker.

I remember the kitchen and front room with the black lead fireplace. It looks very homely on the photo and bright. The difference in our house was it always seemed dark due to the houses close together. The kitchen window was over shadowed with the house opposite. It was the same at the front. But it did shine in the glow of the fire in the grate.

Just too say....if Veronica looks in....on the range is a 'hot water bottle ' like my Granny had !
